Program Overview:
The Hazlehurst City School District through its Special Education Department strives to promote student achievement, based on specifically identified needs. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Our goal is to uphold the FAPE standards by providing educational benefit to students with disabilities in their Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
On behalf of students with educational disabilities, the Hazlehurst City School District will:
-
Support building level staff as they align instruction of each school’s curricular expectations to the identified needs of the students.
-
Support building level staff as they work to implement the procedural requirements of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act.
-
Support child find responsibility in a manner consistent with the Individual with Disabilities Education Act.
-
Support the inclusion of students with educational disabilities into the general education classroom.
-
Support high standards for all students with educational disabilities.
